Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup (200g) packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) baking powder
  • 3/4 cup (130g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter and brown sugar together until smooth and no lumps remain.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking vigorously after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Using a spatula, gently fold the mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.
  7. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan for at least 30 minutes before lifting them out and slicing.
