Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ tsp (3g) baking soda
- ¼ tsp (1.5g) salt
- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
- ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 large (50g) egg, room temperature
- 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl until no large cocoa clumps remain.
- Stir in the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until a gritty paste forms.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, stirring just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, stopping immediately once the streaks of flour disappear to maintain the dense texture.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes until the edges are matte and set, but the centers remain slightly soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking pan for 10 minutes to set before transferring.
