Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) granulated white sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 8 oz (225g) semi-sweet chocolate bar, chopped
- 1/2 tsp (3g) flaky sea salt
Instructions:
- Beat the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar together until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture on low speed until just combined.
- Use a knife to chop the chocolate bar into a mix of dust, small shards, and large chunks.
- Gently fold the chopped chocolate into the dough using a spatula.
- Scoop a leveled tablespoon of dough, roll into a ball, and place 3 inches apart on parchment-lined sheets.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 12–15 minutes until edges are deep golden brown and centers are no longer wet.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the hot pan for 5 minutes to set the final crispness.
