Ingredients:
- 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp (7g) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup (180ml) warm milk
- 4 tbsp (57g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 2 medium (300g) Granny Smith apples, finely diced
- 1/2 cup (100g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tbsp (8g) ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in the mixer bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Add the softened butter, egg, and salt. Gradually incorporate the flour. Knead on medium-low speed for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth, elastic, and clears the sides of the bowl.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tbsp of butter. Add diced apples and sauté for 5 minutes until slightly softened.
- Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until the mixture is thick and syrupy. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
