Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated white sugar
  • ¼ cup (50g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg (50g)
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp (3g) baking soda
  • ½ tsp (3g) kosher salt
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Place the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a bowl and beat for about 3 minutes until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully incorporated and smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing only until the white streaks of flour disappear.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and place them 2 inches apart on the sheet.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes, removing the cookies when the edges are deep golden brown and the centers no longer look wet.
