Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar together until the mixture looks pale and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth and fully incorporated.
  3. Slowly add the flour, baking soda, and fine salt, folding the mixture gently with a spatula.
  4. Stop stirring as soon as the white flour streaks disappear to avoid overmixing.
  5. Gently stir in the dark chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie, roll into balls, and place 2 inches apart on lined baking sheets.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain slightly soft.
  8. Immediately sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over each warm cookie.
