Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (45g) Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 3/4 cup (130g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Beat the melted butter and granulated sugar together. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking on high speed for 3-5 minutes until the mixture is pale, thick, and glossy.
  2. Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Use a spatula to gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until no streaks of white flour remain.
  3. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  4. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes, removing from the oven when the edges are set and the tops have cracked, but the centers still look slightly underdone.
