Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (50g)
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 3 cups (450g) leftover Halloween candy, chopped
- 1/2 cup (80g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13 inch pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- In a large bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and pale.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated and glossy.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt; mix on low speed until flour streaks disappear.
- Gently fold in the chopped Halloween candy and chocolate chips using a spatula.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spoon or parchment paper.
- Bake for 22–25 minutes until edges are deep mahogany-brown and set, while the center remains slightly soft.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
