Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large (50g) egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (45g) black cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 cups (155g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 3/4 cup (130g) Halloween M&Ms or orange chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup (40g) candy eyeballs or sprinkles
  • 1/4 cup (40g) leftover Halloween candy, chopped

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and dark brown sugar together until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and combined.
  3. Sift in the black cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Using a spatula or low mixer speed, fold the ingredients until just combined. Stop the moment you see no more white streaks of flour.
  5. Fold in the Halloween M&Ms and chopped leftover candy.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Gently press 2-3 candy eyeballs onto the top of each dough ball.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes until the edges are set but the center remains fudgy.
