Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (150g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg (50g)
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (225g) Red, White, and Blue M&M's
  • 1/4 cup (35g) white chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together on medium-high speed until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter looks smooth and velvety.
  3. Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate small bowl.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients on low speed, mixing just until the white streaks of flour disappear.
  5. Gently fold in the red, white, and blue M&M's using a spatula.
  6. Scoop dough balls onto the tray and press a few extra candies onto the top of each ball for decoration.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes until edges are barely golden while centers remain slightly soft.
