Ingredients:

  • 1 box (18.25 oz) brownie mix
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp flaky sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the brownie mix and all-purpose flour until no clumps remain.
  3. Add the melted butter, unsweetened applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
  4. Beat on medium speed with a hand mixer for 1–2 minutes until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips using a spatula until evenly distributed.
  6. Using a cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are set and the top is crackled, but the center remains slightly underbaked.
  8. Immediately sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie and allow to cool on the sheet.
