Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Beat the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar on medium-high until pale and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  2. Add the whole egg, the extra egg yolk, and the vanilla extract; beat until fully combined and glossy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the bread flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Turn the mixer to low and gradually add the flour mixture, mixing only until no streaks of white flour remain.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips by hand using a spatula.
  6. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to prevent spreading and concentrate flavors.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and scoop dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes until edges are golden brown but centers remain soft.
