Make the Dough:
Mix rice flour, water, vegetable oil, and salt in a bowl until it forms a dough.
Knead the Dough:
Let the dough sit for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and stretchy.
Rest the Dough:
Cover the dough with a wet cloth and leave it for 40 minutes.
Shape the Rice Cakes:
After resting, break the dough into small parts.
Roll each part into a long, thin shape, about 1 inch wide.
Cut and Flatten:
Cut the long shape into small pieces, around half an inch each.
Lightly press each piece to flatten it with your hand or the back of a spoon.
Sesame Oil Coating:
Put the flattened rice cake pieces on a plate or tray, making sure they're not too close.
Brush a little sesame oil on top of each rice cake to stop them from sticking.
Steam the Rice Cakes:
Heat water in a steamer until it boils.
Put the plate or tray with the rice cakes in the steamer, cover it, and steam for 30-40 minutes until they look clear and are cooked.
Serve Warm:
Once done, take the rice cakes out and let them cool a bit.
Eat them warm with soy sauce for dipping.
