Instructions

  • If you want to make a homemade Bluey cake, follow this easy guide.

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, and mix until smooth.
  • If using sour cream, fold it in at the end for added moisture.
  • Divide the batter evenly into the cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.

Step 2: Make the Buttercream Frosting

  • Beat the butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth.
  • Add heavy cream and vanilla extract, and continue mixing until fluffy.
  • If using cream cheese, beat it in for a slightly tangy flavor.
  • Divide the frosting into bowls and tint with blue and white food coloring.

Step 3: Assemble and Decorate

  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top.
  • Stack the second cake layer and frost the entire cake with blue frosting.
  • Use white and black fondant to create Bluey’s facial features or use an edible print.
  • Pipe decorative accents and add a Bluey cake topper for a perfect finish.
  • Optional: Add sprinkles or edible glitter for extra fun.

✨ Tip: A printable stencil or cookie cutter can help create precise facial details.
