Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup 225g salted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 ½ cup 180g powdered sugar/icing sugar
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 ¼ cup 422g all-purpose flour

Instructions
 

  • Make Cookie Dough:
  • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Divide in Two Pieces:
  • Divide the dough into two portions for easier rolling.
  • Roll Out Cookie Dough:
  • Roll out each portion to about 1/4 inch thick or slightly under using an adjustable rolling pin.
  • Chill Rolled Out Cookie Dough:
  • Place the rolled-out dough on a silicone baking mat or parchment paper for easy transfer.
  • Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours, up to 2 days.
  • Cut Into Shapes:
  • Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut the chilled dough into desired shapes.
  • Bake & Cool:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • Place the cut-out cookies on baking sheets and bake for approximately 12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Decorate:
  • Choose your preferred icing—either the favorite royal icing or easy cookie icing.
  • Decorate the cooled cookies with your chosen icing and let your creativity flow.
