Preheat Oven 🔥: Set your oven to 350ºF.
Mix Butter and Sugar 🧈: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla, and mix until well combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients 🥣: Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
Divide Dough 🍞: Split the dough into three separate bowls.
Add Colors 🎨: Mix red food coloring into one portion of dough until you reach your desired shade. Do the same with blue food coloring in another portion.
Chill Dough ❄️: Refrigerate all three portions of dough for at least 30 minutes.
Roll Out Dough 🍪: On a floured surface, roll out the blue dough into a 12-inch by 12-inch square. Do the same with the plain dough and carefully layer it on top of the blue. Repeat with the red dough, layering it on top of the white.
Form a Log 🌀: Gently roll the stacked dough into a log shape. If needed, use your hands to shape it. Chill the log in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.
Slice and Bake 🔪: Slice the dough log into 1/2-inch rounds and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
