Ingredients
  

For The Cake

  • 4 cups peeled cored, and chopped pears
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 4 egg whites
  • cup canola oil
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

For the Topping

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ lb butter

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine the chopped pears and white sugar. Let them sit for about an hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and prepare a 10-inch Bundt pan by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Slightly beat the egg whites, then mix them with the canola oil, chopped pecans, and pear mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the pear mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and spread it out evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before carefully removing it and transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the Topping

  • In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, milk, and butter.
  • Bring the mixture to a slow boil and let it simmer for 3 minutes.
  • Pour the topping over the cooled pear cake and return it to the oven for an additional 4 minutes.
  • Once done, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
