- 1 cup margarine divided
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup flaked coconut
- 1 15.25 ounce package of German chocolate cake mix
- 1 ¼ cups water
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 8 ounces package of cream cheese
- 3 ¾ cups confectioners' sugar
Preheat oven to 350 F (175 C).
Spread 1/2 cup margarine evenly in the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle chopped pecans and flaked coconut over the margarine, and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the German chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
Pour the cake batter over the coconut and pecans into the prepared pan.
In a saucepan over low heat, melt the cream cheese and the remaining 1/2 cup of margarine. Mix the confectioners' sugar until it becomes smooth.
Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter in a random pattern.
Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool before serving directly from the pan.
