Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup margarine divided
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 15.25 ounce package of German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 8 ounces package of cream cheese
  • 3 ¾ cups confectioners' sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 F (175 C).
  • Spread 1/2 cup margarine evenly in the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle chopped pecans and flaked coconut over the margarine, and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the German chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
  • Pour the cake batter over the coconut and pecans into the prepared pan.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt the cream cheese and the remaining 1/2 cup of margarine. Mix the confectioners' sugar until it becomes smooth.
  • Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter in a random pattern.
  • Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool before serving directly from the pan.
