- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 1/2 tablespoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of almond extract
- 1 1/3 cups of shortening

- Clean a glass bowl and sift the flour into it. Combine the sifted flour with baking soda and sprinkle salt into the mixture. Set the bowl aside.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs thoroughly. Once beaten, add the almond extract to the egg mixture.
- Add shortening and sugar to the egg mixture, then incorporate the dry flour mixture. Mix well until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough into balls and flatten them to form cookie shapes. Make a small dent in the center of each cookie and add a drop of red food coloring for decoration.
