A Crispy Cookies

Orange Cookie Recipe 2024

Orange Cookie Recipe

These orange cookies are incredibly soft and buttery, with a delightful citrus flavor from the orange zest and juice. They’re a breeze, requiring just a few basic ingredients and no time to chill the dough. Despite missing the fresh orange juice, they still deliver a fantastic citrus flavor, thanks only to the zest. Although I didn’t get to try them with the fancier glazes, they were still a hit in their plain form.

Notes for Making Orange Cookie Recipe

Notes for Making Orange Cookies

  • To enhance the orange flavor, rub the orange zest with sugar using your fingers. This helps the zest absorb into the sugar for a more pronounced taste.
  • Consider using a cookie scoop for uniform cookie size, ensuring even baking. Investing in one is worthwhile if you bake frequently.
  • Allow your butter and egg to reach room temperature for smoother mixing. If your egg is cold, soak it in warm water for a few minutes to quickly bring it to room temperature.
  • Be cautious with flour too much can result in dense cookies. For precise measurement, use a kitchen scale. If unavailable, fluff the flour with a spoon, then spoon it into your measuring cup and level with a knife.
  • Cookie spread during baking varies based on ingredients and dough consistency. Test-bake 3-4 cookies drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough and leave two as is, lightly flattening the other two. Observe how they spread to determine whether to flatten the dough before baking.
